Antigua and Barbuda has launched its 9th Annual Centenarian Week, running from 7 to 13 June, to honour residents aged 100 and over.

The observance, led by the Community Development and Citizens’ Engagement Division, celebrates the lives and legacies of the nation’s 11 living centenarians—eight women and three men—including 104-year-old Hermina Celestine Joseph of Jonas Road.

Organisers say the week underscores the value of resilience, longevity and community support.

Events began on Saturday with a national Day of Prayer. A media campaign on Monday, 9 June, is set to share the centenarians’ personal stories, with tributes and commemorative activities continuing throughout the week.
