The CHOGM National Security Planning Committee is urging the public to continue supporting Exercise STRONGHOLD as the next scheduled phase of the national security exercise takes place on Friday.

The appeal comes after officials reported the successful completion of the first phase of the exercise on Wednesday, during which security forces and other key agencies carried out operations around the Antigua and Barbuda National Performing Arts Centre.

The committee thanked residents and motorists for their patience and cooperation, saying public support contributed to the smooth execution of the exercise.

Attention is now shifting to the third phase of Exercise STRONGHOLD, which is scheduled for Friday, July 10, from 6 a.m. to 12 noon.

Officials are reminding members of the public to comply with all instructions issued by police officers and other authorized personnel and to avoid entering designated security zones unless they have authorization to do so.

Exercise STRONGHOLD forms part of Antigua and Barbuda’s preparations for hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting later this year and is designed to test the country’s security readiness, emergency response capabilities and inter-agency coordination.
