The legal proceedings for Antigua and Barbuda’s first homicide of 2025 have been further delayed, with the court postponing the committal hearing for Deon Lloyd.

Lloyd is accused of murdering 35-year-old Javorn Williams during a confrontation at Mount Obama, also known as Boggy Peak, on January 2.

The 42-year-old from Lower Ottos originally had his committal date set for March 26.

When Lloyd appeared in court this week, Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel adjourned the committal hearing due to incomplete case preparations.

The incident that led to the murder allegedly began with an altercation between Lloyd and Williams, resulting in Williams being fatally shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

Lloyd was detained while seeking medical treatment at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, notably wearing a cast on his arm during his first court appearance in January.

Currently remanded at His Majesty’s Prison, Lloyd is being represented by attorney Wendel Alexander.
