Prime Minister Gaston Browne has dismissed an upcoming opposition-led demonstration, describing it as a desperate attempt by a politically weakened movement.

Speaking on the _Browne and Browne Show_, Browne ridiculed the event, organized by opposition figures, suggesting it lacked genuine public support.

_”This so-called ‘Freedom March’ is nothing more than an act of desperation by a failing opposition,”_ he said. _”When a major political party has to rely on a lone activist to organize a march, it tells you how weak and irrelevant they have become.”

Browne claimed that the United Progressive Party (UPP) was struggling to maintain its political relevance, pointing to what he described as declining turnout at opposition events. He contrasted this with his party’s stability, stating, _”We have a strong and united team, while they are in disarray.”

The Prime Minister also suggested that the march was an attempt to mask internal divisions within the opposition. _”They are fighting among themselves for leadership, and now they are trying to manufacture public outrage to stay politically afloat,”_ he added.

The _Freedom March_ is reportedly being spearheaded by activist figures outside of the main opposition leadership. However, Browne argued that the UPP’s reliance on external organizers underscored its lack of grassroots support.

While the opposition has yet to respond to the Prime Minister’s remarks, organizers of the march maintain that it is a legitimate call for greater government accountability.
