The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) has warned residents that household waste collection services may be delayed between 8 July and 10 July because of security measures linked to the CHOGM 2026 STRONGHOLD Security Exercise.

In a statement issued on 7 July , the Authority said temporary road closures, restricted access, security checkpoints and traffic diversions could disrupt its normal collection schedule during the three-day period.

Despite the anticipated disruptions, the NSWMA said collection crews will continue operating wherever access is possible and that every effort will be made to complete scheduled collections as quickly as conditions allow.

The Authority apologised for any inconvenience and thanked residents for their patience and cooperation as Antigua and Barbuda undertakes the national security exercise ahead of hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Residents whose waste is not collected on their usual day are being encouraged to leave their bins at the curb. The NSWMA said crews will return to service affected communities as soon as roads become accessible.

Anyone wishing to report a missed collection or obtain further information is being asked to contact the Authority’s hotline at 562-1347.
