Judging Wraps Up for National School Gardening Competition

The judging process for the Inter-school Gardening Competition officially concluded today 3rd April, 2025, with the final set of schools that registered for the competition were assessed.

This initiative highlights the dedication of students and teachers towards sustainable agriculture and environmental awareness.

Throughout the competition the schools were judged on several aspects of their gardens that were included in four main categories (a) design and layout (b) plant health (c) management practices and record keeping.

The evaluation focused on several factors with the inclusion of soil, conservation, pest control, mulching, and financial tracking, ensuring that students gained a well-rounded grasp of agricultural best practices from an early age.

Judges noted a high level of creativity, teamwork, and motivation from most participating schools and expressed their delight at the efforts the children and teachers have made to be a part of this competition.

Noticeably the 2025 competition was by for larger and more impressive than the previous year and the hope is that it will continue to grow.

With the final assessments now complete, attention turns to the announcement of results at the Awards Ceremony and Agri Expo on 8th April in the Botanical Gardens.

At this event the top-performing schools will be recognized for their outstanding efforts. The competition has proven to be an inspiring journey, fostering a new generation of young agricultural enthusiasts who are eager to contributor to a greener future.
