The commercial manager at V.C. Bird International Airport has been suspended pending an investigation into her role in approving a controversial advertising campaign by CitizenGO, a group known for its anti-LGBTQ+ stance.

The manager, who led the department, admitted to granting approval but said she was unaware of the ad content. The campaign, which included posters and digital displays in the arrivals area, coincided with the arrival of delegates for the Organization of American States (OAS) General Assembly.

Human rights advocates and international observers have condemned the ads, arguing they contradict the OAS’s principles of equality and inclusion. Following government intervention, all related materials have been removed.

Rights groups warn the incident could harm the country’s reputation as it hosts a summit focused on human rights.
