A tropical wave expected to emerge off the west coast of Africa on Sunday has been given a low chance of forming into a tropical depression or storm, forecasters say.
The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) has assigned the system a 20% probability of development over the eastern Atlantic next week.
Meteorologists will continue to monitor the disturbance, but current conditions suggest that significant intensification is unlikely in the near term.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, and while several storms have already formed this year, this particular system is not expected to pose an immediate threat to land.
