Foreign Minister EP Chet Greene has marked National Day of Prayer today with a message of togetherness.

Greene said in a statement: Let us come together in a national day of prayer today.

As our nation comes together in prayer today, we are reminded that our nation, Antigua and Barbuda, is founded “upon principles that acknowledge the supremacy of God.” This is in effect the opening declaration of our constitution brought to life. We are a nation built on a Christian foundation.

Today, let that foundation be our strength. Let us unite in prayer for our leaders, our communities and for each other. Let us pray for wisdom, healing and a spirit of unity that transcends all differences.

The Bible encourages us: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

Let our prayers be the beginning, not the end. May the love and respect we invoke today extend beyond this day to become a new national standard. Let us be guided by the greatest commandment: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart…’ and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:37-39)

Let us join together in lifting our nation up in prayer today.
