The Antigua and Barbuda Union of Teachers (A&BUT) has suspended its planned industrial action at the Post Millennial Academy, which had been set to begin on Wednesday, 17 September.

The decision follows outreach from the school’s administration, which invited union executives to a meeting to discuss outstanding concerns.

Last week, A&BUT President Casroy Charles wrote to parents on 10 September warning that staff would take action until the administration engaged in negotiations. At the time, he said the step was necessary due to what the union described as the school’s “continued failure” to resolve disputes through dialogue.

Speaking on Tuesday, Charles confirmed the union would now hold off.“We decided to meet tomorrow to discuss the pending matters, so we have decided to put the industrial action on hold. They reached out to us…” he told _Antigua.news_.

The meeting between administrators and union representatives is expected to set the tone for negotiations. Both sides have expressed cautious optimism that the dispute can be settled without disrupting students’ education.
