The United Progressive Party (UPP) will host a town-hall meeting next Tuesday to address rising concerns over crime and government accountability in Antigua and Barbuda.

The meeting, set for September 30 at Freedom Hall on Lower Newgate Street, will begin at 7 p.m. and feature a panel led by Deputy Political Leader and criminal defense attorney Hon. Sherfield Bowen, alongside financial consultant Kem Warner and former Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda member Nuffield Burnett.

According to the party, the session will focus on what it describes as an “upsurge in crime” and “mismanagement of state funds.” In a statement ahead of the event, UPP said citizens are “fed up” with violent crime, extrajudicial killings, and what it views as inadequate responses from the government. The party also criticized a lack of transparency in public spending and alleged breaches of financial laws by officials.

Organizers said the town-hall will provide a platform to highlight grievances and outline solutions to what they call urgent national issues. The event will be broadcast live on Progressive 107.3 FM and streamed via the party’s official Facebook page.
