Cybersecurity officials from across the Eastern Caribbean are meeting in Antigua and Barbuda for a two-day workshop focused on strengthening regional collaboration and resilience against cyber threats.

The workshop, held under the theme “Cyber Governance Collaboration in the Eastern Caribbean,” brings together policymakers, technical experts, legal professionals, diplomats and cybersecurity practitioners.

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda is hosting the event in partnership with the Organization of American States (OAS), with support from the United Kingdom.

Participants are examining ways to improve coordination, communication and preparedness at both national and regional levels, particularly for Small Island Developing States (SIDS), which face growing cybersecurity risks.

Delivering opening remarks, Director of Cyber Security in the Ministry of ICTs, Utilities and Energy, Gordina Hector-Murrell, said cybersecurity threats are no longer hypothetical.

“Cybersecurity is no longer a question of if, but when. Our ability to detect, respond, and recover — together — will define the resilience of our nations,” she said.

Geraldine White, Administrative Technician at the OAS General Secretariat in Antigua and Barbuda, highlighted the importance of coordinated responses, noting that effective action goes beyond prevention to include clear communication, defined roles and proactive planning.

The workshop forms part of broader regional efforts to strengthen cyber resilience through collaboration and shared expertise.
