A major cannabis trafficking case stemming from a 2025 seizure at Deep Water Harbour has taken a significant turn after prosecutors withdrew all charges against Jamaican businessman Francis Young.

Young appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Monday when the prosecution informed the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed that the case against him be discontinued. No explanation was given for the decision.

Young had been jointly charged with Nadeem Brandon Doumith following the May 2025 discovery of 62 pounds of cannabis concealed in a cargo shipment at the harbour. The drugs were valued at approximately $372,000.

While the charges against Young have been dropped, the case against Doumith remains active and is scheduled to return to court on August 8, 2026.
