The Ministry of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs), Utilities and Energy is represented at a two-day workshop in Belize, hosted by UN ECLAC, focused on strengthening digital resilience throughout the Caribbean.

Ms. Desiree Zachariah, Manager – Business and Data Analytics Unit within the eGovernment Department of the Ministry of ICTs, says, “Antigua and Barbuda recognizes the essential need for robust digital structures, and the June 2nd to 3rd workshop is an excellent opportunity for us to collaborate with stakeholders across the region to explore the implementation of data embassies.”

Data embassies serve as secure data storage facilities that enable countries to mitigate risks of data loss and service delivery disruptions during national crises. They support a robust legislative framework that encompasses hosting agreements, cybersecurity investments, and network connectivity solutions.

The workshop will include discussions assessing the immediate, medium, and long-term benefits of data embassies and the potential for public-private partnerships to support this endeavor. It seeks to foster collaboration among governments, businesses, and other key stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive approach to digital resilience.
