Jamaican police officers deployed to Antigua and Barbuda to assist with security arrangements for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) met with Prime Minister Gaston Browne on Thursday.

According to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister, the visiting officers paid a courtesy call on Browne as preparations continue for the international gathering.

During the visit, the Jamaican officers delivered motorcycles donated by the Government of India.

Photographs released by the Prime Minister’s Office showed Browne greeting and posing with several officers, including members of the motorcycle unit.

The Jamaican deployment forms part of the security preparations surrounding the Commonwealth summit, which Antigua and Barbuda will host from November 1-4.

The meeting will bring together Commonwealth leaders and delegations from member countries, with security personnel supporting arrangements for the high-profile event.

The Prime Minister’s Office did not disclose the number of Jamaican officers deployed or the number of motorcycles delivered.

Regional and international security personnel are also assisting local authorities with security and traffic management arrangements ahead of the summit.
