The ABAVA Division One volleyball league delivered another exciting night of action at the YMCA Sports Complex on Thursday, with Paragons and Storming Lions claiming victories.
In the first match of the evening, Paragons defeated Jets 3-2 in a thrilling five-set encounter that lasted 2 hours and 6 minutes. The back-and-forth contest saw momentum shifts throughout, with both teams displaying determination and skill.
Jets started strong, claiming the opening set 25-22, but Paragons responded by taking the second set 29-25 in an extended battle. Jets reclaimed the advantage with a 25-15 third-set victory before Paragons levelled the match again, winning the fourth set 25-12.
The decisive fifth set went to Paragons 16-13, completing their comeback in a match that featured exceptional play from both sides.
In the evening’s second match, Storming Lions dominated Invaders in a 3-0 sweep that required just 59 minutes to complete. The Lions controlled the action from the outset, winning the sets 25-6, 25-18, and 25-15.
The ABAVA Division One league action continues next Thursday with another doubleheader at the YMCA Sports Complex beginning at 6:45 p.m.
