CIWiL Antigua and Barbuda Chapter elects new executive leadership – Antigua Observer Newspaper

The Antigua and Barbuda Chapter of Caribbean Women in Leadership (CIWiL) has announced the election of its new executive team, following the elections held on March 19.

According to CIWil’s press release, the newly elected executive will lead the organization’s efforts to advance women’s leadership, political participation, and gender equity in Antigua and Barbuda.

The new executive comprises: Chair Marian Hesse-Merchant; Vice-Chair, Priscilla Joseph; Treasurer, Alecia Cherubin; Secretary/Coordinator, Abena St Luce; Public Relations Officer (PRO), Marver Woodley.

This newly appointed leadership will steer the Chapter’s ongoing efforts to promote women’s leadership, enhance political participation, and champion gender equity across Antigua and Barbuda.

The team brings a diverse blend of experience, dedication, and vision to CIWiL’s mission of empowering women leaders and advocating for gender-responsive policies. Under their leadership, the Chapter will continue driving initiatives to strengthen women’s representation in leadership and decision-making roles, while fostering a supportive, inclusive network for emerging and established women leaders alike.

Speaking on behalf of the new executive, Chair Marian Hesse-Merchant expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in the team and reaffirmed their commitment to driving positive change. “We are honored to have the opportunity to serve and advance the cause of women’s leadership in Antigua and Barbuda. Our focus will be on building capacity, strengthening advocacy efforts, and creating more opportunities for women to lead and influence policy at all levels. ClWiL is not only about political leadership; it is also about women’s leadership in the private sector and at the community level.”
