A man was taken to hospital on Thursday night after a serious single-vehicle crash along Friars Hill Road.
According to reports, the driver was heading south in a black Honda Fit when he lost control of the car, which slammed into a roadside rail near Woods Pond before coming to rest several metres away on the opposite side of the road.
Emergency medical technicians were called to the scene and carefully extracted the man from the wrecked vehicle. He was then transported to hospital for treatment. While the full extent of his injuries remains unclear, witnesses say he appeared to be conscious as he was taken away by ambulance.
Police have since renewed calls for motorists to drive with care, particularly in light of recent rainfall that has left many roads slick and hazardous.
