The Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association Local League continued on Saturday at the YMCA Sports Complex with Starz coming up against CAI Da Squad in the first encounter.
Starz took on the defending champions, Da Squad, who have been undefeated in the Female League so far. The teams started off competitively, but Da Squad quickly surged ahead, leaving Starz struggling to keep up.
Da Squad’s dominance continued into the second set, where they maintained their momentum and secured a convincing lead.
However, Starz staged a remarkable comeback in the third set, showcasing strong defensive play and turning the tide in their favour.
Despite their efforts, Da Squad regrouped and delivered a formidable performance in the fourth set, ultimately emerging victorious with a 3-1 win.
Special recognition goes to Ismay Caraballo #7 and Dairyllis Cruz Perez #10 for their outstanding contributions to the Da Squad’s success.
The scores for each set were as follows: 25-15, 25-17, 20-25 and 25-13. The match lasted approximately one hour and 41 minutes.
In the second encounter, Pytonz battled Top Ranking Storming Lions in a highly competitive encounter.
The teams displayed exceptional skill and determination from the onset, with both sides showcasing impressive offensive capabilities.
In a closely contested first set, Pytonz managed to edge out the Storming Lions by a narrow margin 27-25, setting the tone for the rest of the match. Pytonz continued their strong performance into the second set, effectively neutralising their opponents and clinching another win 25-19.
The third set saw an intense battle between the two teams, with the Storming Lions putting up a valiant effort.
However, Pytonz proved to be the stronger side winning 26-24, sealing the victory with a 3-0 win and extending their unbeaten streak. Overall, the match was filled with excitement and exemplary displays of sportsmanship. The teams showed great resilience, teamwork, and skill, making for a captivating for viewers. The entire match duration was approximately one hour and 14 minutes.
