“Prosperity on Our Terms: A Caribbean Agenda for Climate Finance Access and Addressing Loss and Damage” workshop, being held 28-29 May 2026 at the Hilton Barbados Resort, Bridgetown, Barbados. The workshop is convened by the Climate Vulnerable Forum and the Vulnerable Twenty Group (CVF-V20) under the current presidency of Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados, and brings together representatives from climate-vulnerable countries across the Caribbean and the wider global south.

The Antigua and Barbuda delegation comprises:

    • Gita Nicholas , Department of Environment, Ministry of Health and the Environment

    • Arry Simon , Department of Environment, Ministry of Health and the Environment

    • Carlon Knight , Ministry of Finance, Corporate Governance and Public-Private Partnerships

    • Sheneé Cornelius , Ministry of Finance, Corporate Governance and Public-Private Partnerships

The workshop addresses the Caribbean’s urgent need for improved access to climate and disaster risk finance — a priority of direct relevance to Antigua and Barbuda as a Small Island Developing State exposed to escalating tropical cyclones, flooding, and sea-level rise. The delegation engaged technical sessions on the CVF-V20 Lifeline Fund , which provides rapid liquidity support following major climate events, and the Vulnerability to Viability (V2V) Compact , which addresses longer-term structural financing constraints facing climate-vulnerable states. Workshop sessions also covered the B20 Development Finance Institution Compact , a new partnership with the OPEC Fund for International Development, as well as Loss and Damage finance instruments including the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage and the Global Shield against Climate Risks.

On 29 May, the delegation will also participate in a field visit to climate adaptation and recovery project sites in Barbados, including the Barbados Fisheries Division, Paines Bay, and Six Men’s Bay — providing direct exposure to practical resilience interventions applicable to Antigua and Barbuda’s own planning context.
