The 17-year-old Leeward Islands and Pigotts Crushers player, cracked 143 off just 141 deliveries but could not save West Indies Academy from a second straight defeat at the hands of the Emerging Ireland team when they clashed in the second one day match played in Ireland on Wednesday.

The 17-year-old Leeward Islands and Pigotts Crushers player, cracked 12 fours and seven sixes with a strike rate of 101 as West Indies Academy compiled 278 for eight from their 50 overs after being asked to bat by their hosts who eventually won the match by one wicket.

Nyeem Young contributed with a half century, hitting 54 off 46 balls, which included five sixes. Carlon Bowen-Tuckett (20), Teddy Bishop (19) and Leonardo Julien (18) were the only other batters in double figures for West Indies.

Liam McCarthy was the pick of the bowlers for Emerging Ireland, claiming three wickets for 80 runs in 10 overs. Tom Mayes picked up two for 61 in his 10 overs.

Emerging Ireland, propelled by Chris De Freitas’ 84 off 108 deliveries, reached their target at 282 for nine off 49.5 overs. The player’s knock included 10 fours and one six. Morgan Topping added 53 off 73 deliveries with two fours and two sixes while Matthew Humphreys and Olly Riley were not out on 39 and four runs respectively.

Johann Layne was the pick of the bowlers for West Indies Academy with three for 55 in 10 overs while there were two wickets each for Ramon Simmonds and Nyeem Young.

Emerging Ireland had won the opening match by six wickets.

The defeat was the second straight for the West Indies Academy.
