The man from lower Ottos who police arrested and charged for the country’s first homicide for 2025 has been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison.

Deon Lloyd has been charged for the murder of 35-year-old Javorn Williams of Old Road. He made his first court appearance yesterday before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel who set his committal date for March 26.

During his appearance he wore a cast on his right arm.

The 42-year-old man is accused of shooting Williams during an incident at Mount Obama — also known as Boggy Peak — on January 2. Both men were allegedly involved in an altercation.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lloyd was detained while seeking medical attention at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for injuries he sustained during the incident.

He is being defended by attorney Wendel Alexander.
