Flyers dominate Spanish Heat as Da Project tame Warriors in D1 basketball – Antigua Observer Newspaper

Defending champions Flyers recorded a huge 63-points triumph over Spanish Heat when action in Division 1 of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) resumed on Sunday following a break on Saturday for the National Sports Awards.

The victory was a smooth one for Flyers, as they dominated all four quarters of the contest, winning the opening quarter 26-14, taking the second quarter 26-11, dominating the third 40-10 before wrapping up the contest with a 22-16 fourth quarter dominance, winning 114-51.

Adonis Humphreys led the charge for Flyers with 26 points and 18 rebounds but was ably assisted by Kwame Brathwaite and Javonte Daley who both had 16 points. Brathwaite also had 13 rebounds. Selassie Brathwaite contributed to the winning effort with 15 points while there were 12 points each from Xavier Meade and Najee George. Meade also grabbed 10 rebounds.

In a losing effort, Steven Matthew sank 26 points as the only scorer of note or Spanish Heat.

There was victory as well for Da Project as they had the better of Ottos Warriors 92-64 in Sunday’s opening clash.

Terry Dawkins led the charge for Da Project with 30 points, seven rebounds and five assists as they dominated all four quarters of the contest for the huge win. They outscored Ottos Warriors 22-16, 23-16, 23-21 and 24-11 through quarters one to four.

T-Shawn Lewis contributed to the win with 20 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists while Bryan Matthew added 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

Kebo Orford and Lincoln Weekes were the top performers for Warriors with 20 points each. Orford also grabbed 11 rebounds while Weekes had five.
