A man has sparked outrage in Antigua and Barbuda after a video surfaced showing him urinating in the Potworks Dam, one of the island’s primary water sources managed by the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA).
In the video, the man stands on the edge of the dam, which appears partially dry due to current drought conditions, and declares: “Yep, this is where we get our water… but since now we’re in Ncom, I got to help… help our country, our nation, and Barbuda.” He describes the act as an effort to support the country, saying, “APUA always do the most, but we need love.”
The dam, located in the eastern part of Antigua, plays a critical role in water supply for both residential and agricultural use.
Public reaction has been swift, with many social media users condemning the act as reckless and unsanitary. Environmental and public health advocates have also raised concerns about the message it sends amid ongoing water shortages.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the man will face any legal consequences, but calls for an investigation and possible prosecution are mounting.
The Antigua Public Utilities Authority has not released an official statement at the time of writing.
