The government is reviewing legislation to improve safety at public events involving large trucks, following the death of a woman during Labour Day celebrations.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced the move after 45-year-old Allissa Chiddick died on 5 May when she fell under a trailer truck during a street parade near Millaz Beach Bar on Fort Road.
Chiddick, from Martin’s Village, was pronounced dead at the scene after reportedly trying to board the moving vehicle.
“This unfortunate event has overshadowed the celebrations and underscores the fundamental need for the protection of our citizens,” Mr Browne said.
He added that new measures would be explored to ensure safer conditions during mass gatherings such as Carnival.
