Two Men Convicted in Magistrate’s Court on Firearm and Drug Charges

Two men appeared in the St. John’s Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, July 10, and pleaded guilty to separate charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and cannabis.

Twenty-five-year-old Emerson Alexander of Villa appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Wason on charges of unlawful possession of a (.380) Pistol, and possession of six (6) rounds of matching ammunition. He pleaded guilty to both charges and was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison until July 23 for sentencing.

In a separate matter, 43-year-old Keiron Philip of Ottos Newtown appeared before the said magistrate on a charge of Unlawful Possession of 50 grams of Cannabis. He pleaded guilty, and was convicted and fined $1,000 to be paid within 14 days. In default, he will serve 90 days at His Majesty’s Prison. The court also ordered the destruction of the cannabis.
