Antigua and Barbuda’s Ministry of Works is stepping up road patching as the country prepares for a major overhaul of its water infrastructure.
Minister of Works Maria Browne said the repairs are vital to keeping key transport routes safe and accessible while laying the groundwork for the island-wide repiping project.
Crews have recently carried out work in areas including Piggotts and Grays Farm, targeting potholes and surface damage to prevent further deterioration and reduce risks for motorists and pedestrians.
Browne said the maintenance helps protect surrounding infrastructure and ensures traffic can move freely across the island.
The ministry praised the efforts of its road crews, who often work in challenging tropical conditions and busy community settings.
Residents have welcomed the improvements, reporting smoother and safer journeys.
Officials have urged the public to remain patient as the work continues in preparation for the wider water network upgrades.
