Popular radio talk show host and opposition politician Franz DeFreitas has reportedly been removed as host of Voice of the People on Observer Radio.

DeFreitas was a prominent voice on the widely followed Observer AM programme, where he co-hosted with broadcaster Paul Quinn. Quinn has been absent from the airwaves for several months due to a serious illness and is not expected to return.

The circumstances of DeFreitas’ departure remain unclear, as Observer Media has yet to release a formal statement. His absence from recent broadcasts has nonetheless fuelled speculation among listeners and political supporters.

DeFreitas, who contested the last general election as a United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate, is known for his outspoken criticism of the government and fiery commentary on national issues.

His reported removal is expected to prompt debate, given his influence both as a broadcaster and as a political figure.
