Police in Antigua have opened an investigation after thieves broke into the New Winthropes Seventh-Day Adventist Church, stealing several valuable items.

The burglary took place sometime between 8 p.m. on 16 September and 5:45 a.m. the following day. Officers who responded to the scene found that six metal louvers on an eastern window had been forced open to gain entry.

Once inside, the intruders removed a television from the children’s hall and a refrigerator from a nearby room. They also went upstairs, where a 72-inch television was taken and another of the same size was damaged. The culprits are believed to have exited through an eastern wooden door.

Police said several individuals were interviewed and searches carried out for the missing property, but the stolen goods were not recovered. Forensic officers processed the scene, and investigations are ongoing.
