Police are investigating a pit bull attack that left 27-year-old Shabo Nedwell of Cashew Hill hospitalized with serious injuries after she was mauled while visiting relatives in Skerritt’s Pasture on Friday afternoon.

Nedwell suffered deep bite wounds to both legs and severe injuries to her lip. She was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where she remains in stable condition. Doctors said her injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

According to reports, the attack occurred shortly after Nedwell entered the house. Family members said they heard her screams and rushed to restrain the dogs. Neighbours also responded to the commotion and helped get her to medical care.

The incident has reignited discussion about the control of aggressive dog breeds and the duty of owners to properly secure their animals.

Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. No decision has yet been made regarding whether the dogs will be seized or if charges will follow.
