A 35-year-old Cassada Gardens resident accused of marrying a second time while still legally wed has been released on bail.

Josh Matthias appeared before Magistrate Andrew Mighty this week and was granted bail in the amount of $5,000 with no cash deposit. His release conditions include providing two sureties, surrendering all travel documents, and refraining from contacting the alleged victim.

Police allege that Matthias took part in a wedding ceremony with another woman at Fort James on April 9, 2025, even though he was still married to his first wife. Following an investigation, officers arrested him and charged him with bigamy.

The case has been adjourned until December 17, 2025.
