Antigua and Barbuda’s cruise sector recorded a significant surge on Tuesday as five ships berthed simultaneously at the St John’s harbour, creating what officials described as “a powerful day” for the country’s tourism economy.

According to Antigua Cruise Port, the arrival of the vessels generated heightened activity across the capital, with tour operators, taxi drivers, retailers, restaurants and waterfront vendors all benefiting from the increased foot traffic.

The port authority said the bustling atmosphere underscored the vital role cruise tourism plays in supporting local livelihoods, noting that the industry continues to deliver meaningful economic opportunities for residents.

In a statement, officials praised stakeholders for maintaining high service standards throughout the busy day, thanking workers across the sector for helping to provide what they called “cruise excellence” to visiting passengers.

“Cruise tourism works for all of us,” the port said, adding that continued strong arrivals reflect growing confidence in Antigua and Barbuda as a leading Caribbean destination.
