Antigua and Barbuda is observing its National Day of Prayer today, Thursday, September 10, with residents being encouraged to unite in prayer for the nation’s future.
The observance, which falls on the second Thursday of September, is an official public holiday.
According to information published by ABS, a National Prayer Service will be held at the Antigua Recreation Grounds beginning at 4 p.m., with activities broadcast live across ABS platforms.
The appeal accompanying the observance calls on residents to seek “God’s wisdom, peace, and guidance” and to pray for the country and those in positions of authority.
The day is also dedicated to nationwide prayer and fasting. The sale and consumption of alcohol is prohibited between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. as part of the observance.
The Labour Department previously confirmed September 10 as the official date for the 2026 National Day of Prayer after correcting an error in the published public holiday schedule.
The National Day of Prayer has become part of Antigua and Barbuda’s annual calendar of national observances, bringing churches, government officials and members of the wider community together for prayer and reflection.
